Virginia S. Eglen

October 2, 1926 — April 30, 2023

PENDLETON- Virginia S. Eglen, 96, of Pendleton, passed away at her home on April 30, 2023.

She was born in Anderson, Indiana on October 2, 1926 and was a longtime Pendleton resident.

Virginia retired as an Executive Secretary from various companies including American Playground Device Company for over 20 years and Recreation Playground Equipment Company, both of Anderson.

She was a member of Pendleton Baptist Church and the Pendleton Garden Club. Virginia was a 1944 graduate of Pendleton High School. She enjoyed baking, feeding people, and flowers. Her love of family was always her main interest and she loved to “wander” Indiana, especially to state parks and instilled a love and appreciation of the outdoors in her children and grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Vera Stanley; husband, Eugene Eglen; siblings, Betty Pederson and Robert Stanley; and a daughter, Teressa Isaacs.

Survivors include her children, Janeen (David) Suchocki, and Jeanette Isbell both of Pendleton, Dallas (Buffy) Isaacs of Punta Gorda, Florida and Lisa (Michael) Bare of Rushville; 12 grandchildren, Michael Webster, Shelley Byers, Josh (Angie) Webster, Jennifer (Neal) Smith, Marcy (Mike) Ban, Shane (Kelli) Isaacs, Darren (Jennifer) Isaacs, David Isaacs (Marissa), Rachael Behrens (Glen), Caitlin Behrens, Ben Bare and Amy (Brian) Marlatt; 16 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Leanne) Stanley; special sister-in-law and friend, Evelyn Stanley; sister-in-law, Nancy Stanley; brother-in-law, Bruce Pederson; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Lisa Taylor; and many dear friends.

The family would like to thank the hospice team from AseraCare, Carmel.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Pastor Dennis Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Historical Museum or to the charity of the donor’s choice in Virginia’s name.
