Vaughn Allen Bracken, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and dedicated farmer, passed away at his home on May 9, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on July 30, 1950, in Anderson, Indiana, he was the son of the late Carl and Genevieve (Carpenter) Bracken.
Vaughn graduated from Lapel High School and went on to marry the love of his life, Carole Richardson, on August 22, 1969. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, hard work, and family. Vaughn was a lifelong farmer, proudly operating Bracken Farms, where he cultivated not only crops but also a legacy of dedication and passion for agriculture.
In addition to his farming career, Vaughn honorably served in the Army Reserves from 1969 to 1976, exemplifying his commitment to his country. He was also an active member of the Cattle Association, Madison County 4H, and the Madison County Soil and Water Association. Most importantly, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vaughn will be remembered fondly by his family, which includes his devoted wife, Carole, whom were married 56 years; their children, Andrew (Tracy) Bracken and Stacey Bracken; his cherished grandchildren, Madison, Brock, Gabby, and Drew; and his great-grandchildren, Delia and Shepherd. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry (Pat) Bracken and Norman (Linda) Bracken, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Vaughn will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory- Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main St., Lapel. A visitation will be held prior from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery. Pastor Nathan McDade will be officiating.
