Valerie Beth Hughes, 57, Anderson, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011, at her home following a brief illness. She was born on April 17, 1954, in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Vera (Brown) Auron. She is survived by three children, Robert C. (wife, Jina) Hughes of Greenwood, David T. Hughes of Anderson, and Elissa M. (husband, Willibaldo) Martinez of Anderson, six grandchildren, Kami Reed, Devon Hughes, Marisa Hughes, Valentin Avina, and Savannah and Roxanne Hughes; and four sisters, Denise Auron of Texas, Michelle Auron of Cheyanne, WY, Melissa Auron, and Kim Aubrey. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor James Hughes officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
