Thomas J. Sacilowski, 95, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022.
Thomas was born on January 1, 1927, in Anderson to the late Boleslaw and Helena (Bucho) Sacilowski. He was a graduate from St. Mary’s High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Army fought in the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. Thomas worked for 42 years as the Vice President of Citizens Banking Company. In his life he was a member of the Knights of Columbus 563, and the VFW Post 266. He was also a very active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed bird watching, nature, fishing, and was an avid gardener. Thomas was very proud of his Polish heritage, he lived his entire life in the Polish Acre and was a historian of the Acre. On New Year’s Day his family would always cook up a traditional Polish dish called “Kapusta” and celebrate his birthday. Thomas loved his family, his faith, and his country. He spent lots of time with his sisters Amelia and Mary. The trio were inseparable.
Thomas is survived by his niece; Carol (Randy) Fite, and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley, Leon, Edmond, Raymond, and Jack Sacilowski; sisters, Helen Power, Mary Scherer, and Amelia Rudolf.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson. Service will begin at 12 p.m., following the visitation at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made out to St. Ambrose or St. Vincent Depaul Society.
