Thomas G. Hilliker

August 25, 1944 — May 30, 2026

Westfield

Thomas G. Hilliker, 81, of Westfield, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2026, after a year-long battle against pancreatic cancer. Born on August 25, 1944, to Clair and Alta (Place) Hilliker, Tom lived a life full of adventure, service to others, and a whole lot of speed.

Tom grew up on his family homestead in Monrovia where he played baseball, performed as a water-skier, and became a proud Eagle Scout. He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1962, later marrying fellow Pioneer, Sue (Lugar). After a year at General Motors Institute, he began a long career as a Mechanical Engineer, where he flourished with his creativity and knack for making things work. Outside of the factory, Tom was an avid golfer, tennis player, and all-around sports enthusiast. He had a particular fondness for fast cars - hot rods, muscle cars, and especially his Corvettes - and he was always up for a friendly drag race or an opportunity to test the limits on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Tom found his spiritual home in the congregation at First United Methodist Church in Pendleton and enjoyed opportunities to share his love for music. In retirement, Tom and Sue embarked on many journeys together, traveling to favorite destinations in Hawaii and Florida, while continuing to play golf and tennis weekly.

He is survived by his children, Paula (Neil McGuffog) Lord of Carmel and Jeffrey Hilliker of Zionsville; One brother, Steve (Elaine) HIlliker; Sister-in-law, Clara Lugar; Three grandchildren, Mia Lord and Charlie and Henry Hilliker; Tom is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gwendolyn Sue Hilliker.
