Suzanne Hagan

October 29, 1939 — January 24, 2026

Pendleton

Suzanne Hagan, 86, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, surrounded by family at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.

Born in 1939, Suzanne was a proud Lapel "Bulldog," graduating with the Class of 1958. She was a doer - serving as a class officer and staying involved in reunions throughout her life. Her classmates remained a small but tight circle of friends. She married George Royce Hagan the same year, and they were happily married until his passing in 2009. Together they enjoyed quilting, traveling, and the Department 56 Group.

She enjoyed a career at the Chamber of Commerce in Pendleton, Indiana. Previously, she managed credit unions at St. John's Hospital and Community Hospital for 25 years before retiring to focus on her community activities.

Suzanne's creativity was perhaps most visible in her quilting. She served as president of the Pendleton-area Quilt Guild three times and remained an active and devoted member for many years, lovingly creating hundreds of quilts for family and friends. She was also a member of the Evening Star Quilt Guild for more than 20 years. Her quilts won many awards over the years.

A dedicated community member, Suzanne served as a board member of the Pendleton Historical Museum, Historic Fall Creek-Pendleton Settlement, and the Pendleton Community Advisory Committee. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Kikthawenund Chapter, a former board member of the Pendleton Library, and her homeowners association, where she lived for more than 30 years.

She loved her family farm, which had been passed down from her great-grandfather to her grandfather, then her father, and finally to her. Suzanne carefully made decisions about planting, seeding, and fertilizers during planting season.

Suzanne believed that it "takes a village" - for her family, friends, town, farm, and activities. She leaves behind a legacy of service, creativity, and generosity that will not be forgotten.

Suzanne is survived by her daughters, Anne Hagan and Michelle (Alan) Short, and her son-in-law, Jeff Evans; her grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Evans, Katie (Ryan) Russell, Jordan (Tom) Flanagan, Gabrielle Kramer, Alexandra (Hayden) Downey, and Rebecca Short; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Donald Lynn Shetterly. Her family brought her immense pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Royce Hagan; her daughter, Dawn Suzanne Evans; son-in-law, Kevin Kilcoyne; her parents, William and Dorothy Shetterly; and her brother, Stephen.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11:00am - 1:30pm at Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 East State Street, Pendleton, Indiana 46064.
