Sue Anne Humphrey, 83, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.
She was born on July 22, 1939, in Anderson, Indiana to Luther Milton and Thetis Christie (Townsley) Ward.
Sue graduated from Anderson High School. She retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors. She also had worked for Brookside Corporation for 8 years.
She was a member of the UAW Local 663, the Salvation Army and the Women's Auxiliary where she volunteered for 10 years. She taught children's Sunday school for many years. She loved her family and the Lord.
Sue is survived by three sons, Harold (wife, Amy) Humphrey of Anderson, Dave (wife, Julie) Humphrey of Anderson and Will (wife, Cheri) Humphrey of Noblesville; a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Humphrey of Anderson; six grandchildren, Dustin Marshall, Shannon Gaddis, Olivia (husband, Matt) Wood, Kalea Humphrey, Teresa Shoemaker and Shawn Hunter; fifteen great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, David (Cheryl) Humphrey of Chesterfield; and a sister-in-law, Jacque Humphrey of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years whom she married on July 24, 1957, Larry Gene Humphrey on January 17, 2022; a son, Larry Lee Humphrey; her parents; a brother-in-law, Harold Lee Humphrey; her father-in-law, Herman Jackson; and mother-in-law, Louise Jackson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at United Wesleyan Church, 2233 South Central Way, Anderson, Indiana 46011 with Rev. Joe Jackson and Rev. Clifton Ashlock officiating. Burial will follow in Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Bozell Funeral Homes, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.
The family would like to express the grateful appreciation for the love and care provided to Sue by Lauren, Patti and Paula with Southern Care Hospice, as well as to Dr. Sharief and Dr. Yeh.
