Sheila Lynn Chitwood, 62, of Anderson, Indiana passed away July 10, 2026, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, Indiana following a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer.
She was born on June 18, 1964, in Anderson, Indiana to the late James “Jimmy” Joseph and Sandra Lea (DeWitt) Chitwood.
Sheila lived most of her life in New Castle, Pendleton and Anderson communities.
Throughout the years she has owned several hair and nail salon locations in Pendleton and Anderson where she loved caring for and serving her clients.
She was a 1982 graduate of Pendleton Heights High School. Sheila loved Jesus and found her spiritual home at Fall Creek Christian Church in Pendleton. She was a member of and enjoyed the activities at the Middletown American Legion Auxiliary, Alexandria Eagles and Veterans of Madison County, Anderson. Sheila loved the beach and enjoyed going there with her family. She also enjoyed the game of billiards, and playing with her friends.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, James Joseph Chitwood, stepfather, Milo F. “Mike” Brown and her mother, Sandra Lea (DeWitt) Chitwood Brown.
Survivors include her sons, Taylor Chitwood of Pendleton, Garrett Engle of Anderson and Eli Bowling of Sun City, Arizona; grandsons, Wyatt Chitwood and Liam Chitwood; sisters, Sherri (Ron) Rigney of New Castle and Susan (Darrell) Lahm of Pendleton; an aunt; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her step siblings, Mike Brown, Sharon Craib and Terry Brown.
The family would like to thank her doctors and nurses for their exceptional care.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 pm, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and from 10 to 11 am, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Fall Creek Christian Church, 1102 W. 700 S., Pendleton, Indiana with services beginning at 11 am, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, officiated by Tom Wiles. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
Arrangements entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fall Creek Christian Church Kids and Teens Ministry.
