It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sarona Zonarich, who left us on June 1, 2026, after a brave battle with cancer. Sarona was born on June 16, 1961, to Eugene Morris and Ina Lee Morris Haverstick in Gary, Indiana. She met her husband, David Zonarich while they were both doing missionary work in Scotland. While based in Scotland, Sarona and David traveled extensively throughout Europe, creating many cherished memories. They built a joyful life together in Memphis, TN.
Sarona was a Certified Public Accountant until retiring in 1995 to spend time with her children. She was a devoted member of the Park Avenue Church of Christ, and a vibrant member of her community. Sarona's kindness and generous spirit touched everyone she met. She had a passion for gardening - especially flowers - and often found peace in nurturing her plants. Her heart also belonged to her cherished daughter, Maya, whom she cared for with unwavering dedication.
Always the supportive mother, Sarona was actively involved with Girl Scouts and local initiatives such as Step Up for Down Syndrome. She had a special way of making everyone feel included, often reaching out to those who felt a little left out. Music filled her life, and her joys included singing hymns at church and with family, making up songs for her kids, classic Broadway musicals, and the rock bands of her youth
Sarona leaves behind her three beloved daughters, Milliana, Maya, and Laura, as well as her siblings, Lisa Thaxton, Phillip Morris, and Kimberli Kelmor. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, David. Her family and friends will always remember her infectious smile and the love she shared with her church family.
A visitation for Sarona will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 1 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory - Lahm Chapel located at 211 East State Street, Pendleton, IN 46064. Her funeral service will take place at 2 PM following the visitation. Cremation Rites will take place following the service entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory. All who knew Sarona are invited to come and share their memories and honor her incredible life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Park Avenue Church of Christ, 5295 Park Avenue Memphis, TN 38119.
