Samuel Max Stoops

Samuel Max Stoops, 85, Lapel, passed away Friday, July 8, 2005, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following an extended illness.
He was born on March 20, 1920, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Asia and Rosa (Deaver) Stoops. He retired in 1980 from Firestone in Noblesville after 30 years of employment. He is survived by three children, Marcia Mills of Anderson, Joyce A. (husband, Steve) Chapple of Fortville, and Jonathan M. (wife, Kathy) Stoops, Sr.; one sister, Ruby (husband, Charles) Givens of Anderson; ten grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ava M. (Wooden) Stoops; a son-in-law, Donald Mills; and a special cousin, Eunice Orr. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Don Pittman officiating. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
