Mrs. Ruth Ann Burton

Ruth Ann Burton, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was born May 8, 1937, in Anderson to James Francis & Ethel Anna (Wiseman) Ward. Ruth married Tom Burton in 1957, whom she invited to a school dance while in their high school speech class. She was an active member in the Sparklers Home Ec Club since 1983. When not doting on her family, she would take a break from doing her part of raising their five children and spend time doing needlepoint or writing poems. Her work outside the home included JC Penney’s and participating in the “I’m thumb body” program in Madison County. Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Tom Burton; four sons, Steve (wife, Lisa), Dan (wife, Jill), Jeff, & David Burton; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard, Ronald, & Jim Ward; and daughter, Karen Garland. Private services were entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
