Ronald Paul Gebhardt, 90, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026.
Born on December 11, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, Ron was the son of William and Frieda (Link) Gebhardt. He lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength, and a deep care for others.
Ron was a proud graduate of the University of Illinois and honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he devoted his professional life to the United States Department of Agriculture, where he was respected for his diligence and integrity.
A devoted Christian, Ron was a faithful member of Crossroads Community Church in Port Barrington, Illinois. His life was a testament to his compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith. He believed deeply in serving others, and he lived out that calling through many years as a volunteer tax preparer, helping individuals and families with care and patience. He also gave generously of his time as a long-standing volunteer at McHenry Hospital, offering kindness and support to those in need.
Ron found joy in God's creation, especially through his love of gardening. He was known and highly respected for his kindness, humility, intelligence, and quick wit, bringing light and encouragement to all who knew him.
Ron will be deeply missed as a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. He shared a special bond with his twin brother, Richard (Mary Jo), and was a cherished presence in the lives of his many nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews. His steady guidance, loving spirit, and faithful example leaves a lasting legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, George and Charles.
A memorial service celebrating Ron's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Crossroads Community Church, 29092 West Roberts Road, Port Barrington, Illinois 60010. Burial will take place at a later date in Peoria, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory to Crossroads Community Church, 29092 West Roberts Road, Port Barrington, Illinois 60010 or Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, North Carolina 28607.
Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 has been entrusted with Ron's care.
