Ronald L Cantrell peacefully passed away on May 29th, 2026, with his family at his side. Ron was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa, among many other roles he played in everyone's life. Born in Richlands Virginia February 22, 1953, he moved to Indiana at age 8. He lived in Oklahoma for 12 years and returned to Anderson in 1993. He is survived by wife, Rhonda (Skelton) Cantrell, and children Audra, Lauren, and Chris. He is greatly loved and missed by grandchildren Ezra, Aria and Judea, sisters, Deborah (Cantrell) Kaminski and Rhonda (Cantrell) Ramirez, and Sandra Railey, sisters in law - Bonita (Skelton) Taylor, and Jean Cantrell, brother-in-law Jeff Skelton, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In his earlier years, he was an Eagle Scout , played baseball, and was active in the Salvation Army. A self taught musician, Ron played lead guitar professionally and bi-vocationally for many years in "Tangent Band" locally, and "Kicks" in OKC. He retired from retail grocery management at Meijer in 2018. He was a member of North Anderson Church of God / Madison Park Church, now known as, Freedom House Church. He enjoyed caring for and spending time with family and friends, collecting coins, and traveling. He was preceded in death by parents, Linda & Noah Cantrell, Mother and Father in Law- Rex & Bonnie Skelton, brother Jessie Cantrell, brothers-in-law, Joseph Bustos & Ram Ramirez, cousin- Jeff Cantrell, many aunts and uncles including locally Ella (Cantrell) Jones & Ray Jones, Otis & Peg Cantrell, Barbara (Cantrell) White & Bob White, Delores & Dan Ferree.
Visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:00pm - 6:00pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013.
A celebration of life service will follow visitation starting at 6:00pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to: The Salvation Army or The Christian Center.
