Roger W. Sitton

Roger W. Sitton, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at his residence on November 4, 2026. The son of the late William Sitton and Louise (LeDuc) Sitton, he entered this world on July 16, 1942, in Wilkinson, IN, and dedicated much of his life to serving others, most notably as a Deputy Sheriff and Jail Commander for Hancock County.

Roger graduated from Wilkinson High School, the Class of 1960. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, and after his military service, he returned to his roots and found a fulfilling career in law enforcement. He was also a Chief/ firefighter at Wilkinson Volunteer Fire Department and was the Wilkinson Town Marshall, all of which made a lasting impact on his community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fran Sitton, and his four sons and daughter: Brent & Theresa Sitton, Trent Sitton, Jay & Kristina Sitton, Jason & Tina Sitton, and Robin & Josh Green. Roger is also survived by his brothers, Jerry Sitton, Dennis & Kim Sitton, and John & Suzy Sitton, as well as his sisters, Janice & Oren Jarvis, and Ruthie Gosser. Ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He cherished his family deeply and leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication.

Roger was preceded in death by: Sister Susie Hildebrand, brother in law Jim Gosser, and sister- in-law Sara Sitton.

Roger was a 50 year member of Shirley Masonic Lodge #531. He was a board member of the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen close to 10 years. He was an avid fisherman, carpenter, public servant, outdoorsman, and never met a stranger. He was an honest man who prioritized his family and will be missed deeply.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Roger's life Friday evening November 13, 2026 4-8 p.m. at Bozell Funeral Home and Crematory, Condo Chapel 130 S. Main Street, Wilkinson, Indiana. Masonic Services to be held at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday morning November 14, 2026 at 11 a.m. with calling one hour prior to service at the Chapel with Dennis Spegal officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery.
