Robert G. "Bobby" Mahoney Jr., 61, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness, leaving behind a family and circle of friends who loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.

Born on February 3, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts, Bobby was the son of the late Robert G. Mahoney and Rita F. Mahoney. Raised in Halifax, Massachusetts, he developed the independence, resilience, and strong character that would define him throughout his life.

Nearly forty years ago, Bobby moved to Inverness, Florida, with a spirit of adventure and a desire for a better life in a warmer climate while remaining close to extended family. He built a life rooted in hard work, friendship, and a deep devotion to those he loved. Approximately ten years ago, he and his beloved wife, Gay Mahoney, relocated to Fortville, Indiana in pursuit of a new career opportunity.

Bobby enjoyed a successful career in sales and management. Most recently, he served as a Sales Manager with Juul Labs for approximately ten years. Prior to that, he held sales and leadership positions with several retail organizations and fulfilled his entrepreneurial ambitions by starting and operating his own business. He took pride in his work and was known for his determination, work ethic, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Those who knew Bobby will remember his wonderful sense of humor, his ability to make people laugh, his love of dancing and penchant for fedora’s. He had a unique way of looking at life and was never overly concerned with what others thought of him. He lived life on his own terms, with authenticity and conviction. He was stoic, strong-willed, and at times stubborn, traits that reflected both his determination and his strength of character.

Bobby lost his beloved wife Gay last year, after a long battle with cancer. Married for just under 25 years, Bobby and Gay spent many happy times with their blended family, many siblings, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bobby and Gay’s favorite leisure activity was cruising the Caribbean, including a memorable cruise assisting hurricane victims in Puerto Rico and the islands. During their time in Indiana, Bobby and Gay enjoyed spending their weekends checking out all the local dining establishments and sending pictures of their before and after meals to his family text string.

Above all else, Bobby loved his family. He is survived by his five children: Matthew Mahoney and his wife Ariana, of Daytona, Florida; Robert G. Mahoney III of DeLand, Florida; Jessica Cerda of Oviedo, Florida; Lindsey Cummins and her husband RJ of Inverness, Florida; and Bryce Mounsey and his wife Sam of Inverness, Florida, his grandchildren including children of Matthew: Matthew, Maeci, and Mason, children of Jessica: Haley, Elias, and Olivia, children of Lindsey: Aleyah and Kain, and children of Bryce: Tiana, Lincoln, and Paisley. He was a proud and loving grandfather who treasured every opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and family.

He is also survived by his mother, Rita F. Mahoney; his siblings, Theresa Mahoney Conway, Helen Lifrieri and husband Bob, Colleen Mahoney and partner Robert Rodrigues, Sean Mahoney and his wife Maura, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members, and friends. Along with his loving wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Mahoney, and his sister, Marybeth Mahoney.

His passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving his family with a profound sense of loss. While hearts are broken by his absence, those who loved him take comfort in the memories he leaves behind, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely.

Bobby's family would like to thank Bozell Funeral Home of Lapel, Indiana, for their care and compassion during this difficult time. Bobby will be brought home to Massachusetts and entrusted to the care of Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanson. He will be laid to rest at Central Cemetery in Halifax, Massachusetts, alongside his beloved wife, cherished father and treasured sister. A celebration of life will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.

Though gone too soon, Bobby's spirit, humor, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
