Robert “Bob” Dale Perkins passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2022, at the age of 89. He leaves behind three sons: Terry Robert Perkins of Newburgh, Anthony “Tony” Scott Perkins of Newburgh, and Todd Michael Perkins of Pendleton, 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Essie, his father Vern, his brother, Wayne and sisters Dottie and Linda.
Bob was a hard worker during his life. By the age of eight he was milking the family cows and caring for the chickens. As a teen, he had a Grand Champion steer at the Indiana State Fair. He served in the Army and completed one year at Purdue University. As a young man he sold Electrolux sweepers door to door and later was a realtor for Bowman realty in Middletown. He also built Maple Village Shopping Center in Middletown.
Bob built and owned several car washes over 45 years, most notably Bob’s Car Wash on 53rd Street in Anderson. Most recently he has managed Bob’s Car Wash on Broadway in Anderson. His friends and family knew his funny and ornery side. Bob accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior in the spring of 2021.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held from 2 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m., Sunday , October 9, 2022 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton, Indiana and will include military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
