Richard “Dick” E. Hildreth, 82, passed away June 24, 2023.
He was born June 24, 1941, in Parker City, IN to the late, John H. & Marian G. (Hobbs) Hildreth.
Dick graduated from Parker High School then graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering. Dick lived and worked across central Indiana including, Terre Haute, Indianapolis, Kokomo, Plainfield, and West Lafayette. During his career, he worked for Public Service Indiana/PSI Energy/Cynergy as well as Anderson Light & Power where he completed his career. In addition, he facilitated safety training with IMEA and was an adjunct instructor at IUPUI. Dick was very active in the communities where he lived over the years, having been a member of Toastmasters International, Boy Scouts of America, and was proud to have been in 4-H as a child and an adult volunteer. Dick was an active member in all of his churches throughout his adult life. Dick was currently a member of New Horizons United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities. Dick was also very involved with his children’s school and community activities throughout their lives.
Dick is survived by his children, John L. Hildreth & Rebecca (husband, Stephon) Wasio; granddaughters, Madeline & Emma Hildreth; sister, Beverly Hildreth; brother-in-law, Carl Dennis (wife, Cindy) Jester; and his beloved four-legged companion, Taffy. He also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Kay (Jester) Hildreth; daughter, Diane Hildreth; and sisters, Mary Hildreth & Judith Hale.
A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 3rd at New Horizons United Methodist Church, Anderson, IN, with Pastor Bob Case officiating. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery in Muncie.
Visitation will be from 4:30-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2nd at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, Anderson, IN and one hour prior to the service on July 3rd.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Horizons United Methodist Church, 611 E. 53rd Street, Anderson, IN 46013.
