Maurice L. Crull was welcomed into heaven by his Savior Jesus Christ on March 7th. He passed away at home holding the hand of his loving wife of 64 years Daris.
Maurice was born at his childhood home in Pendleton in 1935. He graduated from Pendleton High in 1953 and married Daris Dudgeon on July 6th 1958.
Maurice was a wonderful and generous man who loved the Lord and lived a life that boldly proclaimed his faith. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched. He led worship at Emmanuel Church in Pendleton for decades. After moving to Anderson, Maurice and Daris have been active at AFC (Anderson First Church of the Nazarene.)
Maurice served as a Sergeant in the US Army and retired from the US Postal Service in 1990 with 37 years of service.
He was active in the Pendleton community as a member of Kiwanis, longtime scorekeeper for PHHS varsity basketball and baseball teams. He was the first president of the Pendleton Park Board, Secretary of the town planning commission, and lead the sesquicentennial committee for the town.
Maurice was a huge sports fan. He loved playing ball with his boys and watching his grandsons play sports. He was an avid Cub fan and enjoyed taking the family on weekend trips to Riverfront Stadium watching the Big Red Machine. He enjoyed gardening and swimming in the backyard pool with family and friends. He and Daris made many memories together with her sister Ann and brother-in-law Russell traveling around the country and wintering in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Daris, sons Jeff (Lisa) and Tim, grandsons Jason (Meghan) and Justin (Molly), and sister Virginia Schlarb.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Raymond and Zona Crull, in laws Paul and Letha Dudgeon, and brothers Robert, Carl, and Donald.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Community Center @ AFC, 2324 Jackson St., Anderson, IN 46016.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 10th from 4 to 8 PM at Wilson St Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton. A celebration of life service will occur on Saturday, March 11th at 2 PM at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Dr. Joseph Dagostino III officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
