Mary B. Pettigrew

Mary B. Pettigrew, 102, of Anderson, passed away at Sugar Fork Crossing on Thursday, August 3, 2023.

She was born on November 30, 1920, in Madison County, Indiana to Carl and Grace (Hackleman) Lackey.

She was a 1938 graduate of Lapel High School. She retired From Nardco Heating and Air Conditioning where she was a finance manager.

Mary was known for her beautiful tole paintings and as a fabulous cook. She was a gracious hostess of the family gatherings. She was a most beautiful and caring matriarch of the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Pettigrew on September 20, 2008; her parents; two brothers, Nolan C. Lackey and George E. Lackey; a stepbrother, Johnnie C. Lackey; two stepsisters, Sara M. McDonald and Frances R. Schuyler; and nieces, Nancy Lackey, Elizabeth Lackey and Janet Lackey.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory are a son, Philip Boone (Carol); two stepchildren, Charme Pettigrew and Cliff Pettigrew; two grandsons, Mark Pettigrew and Trace Pettigrew (Rene); two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Goff (James), Lucas Vance and Avery Pettigrew. Also surviving are nieces, Barbara Lackey Adams (Sherman), Janine Lackey Compton (Rod), Rita Herron Brown (Tom) and Nora Friend (John) and Debra Lackey; nephews, Steve Lackey (Pam), Brian Lackey, Jeff Lackey (Kay) and Kyle Lackey; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and her devoted friend and caregiver, Tammy Driver.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
