Martina Carol Lawyer

Martina Carol Lawyer, 88, of Markleville, Indiana passed away at her home on August 30, 2026.

Martina was born April 27, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana to the late Clayton and Carol (Webb) Hayden.

Martina graduated from Pendleton High School. While a lifelong farm wife she was Head of Custodians for Lawrence Township Community Schools for 20 years, as well as part of her family restaurant, The School Bell in Wilkinson, where she was well known for cooking and baking. She was her family caretaker, loved gardening and enjoyed making wreaths and other crafts.

Martina was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Richard G. “Dick” Lawyer; son, Greg Lawyer; and brothers, Gorbert Hayden and Tony Hayden.

Survivors include her children, Douglas (Edie) Lawyer of Markleville, Sherry (Jerry) Copeland of Highland, Michigan and Machelle McCune of Markleville; grandchildren, Tyler Lawyer, Josh Copeland, Jon Copeland, Emily McCune, Sarah McCune, and Colton Lawyer; seven great grandchildren; brother, David (Sharon) Hayden of Louisiana; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Suburban Hospice Group who went above and beyond the call of duty in their care of Martina and family.

A visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm, Friday, September 4, 2026, with services beginning at 12 pm at Bozell Funeral Homes, Condo Chapel, 130 S. Main St., Wilkinson, Indiana. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson.
