December 14, 1956 — April 19, 2026

Anderson

Marsha Gooding Skirvin, age 69, Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Known by all for her quick wit and a smile that reached from ear to ear, she will be deeply missed.

Marsha was a proud alumna of Anderson University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. She later went on to earn multiple Master's degrees, which combined with her academic background paired perfectly with her favorite pastime: watching true crime shows.

Throughout her life, she held a variety of meaningful roles, from working as a dietitian at Community Hospital in Anderson to serving as an aide in the special education classroom at Knightstown High School. She was proud of her involvement in 4-H and was an active member of the North Anderson PTA. Always a fierce supporter of her sons, she was their greatest cheerleader in every endeavor. Whether it would be their involvement in sports, Derek's music, or Dustin's passion for writing and poetry. She was described by those close to her as smart, strong, and beautifully stubborn. Beyond her professional life, Marsha possessed a talent for interior design, was an excellent cook, and nurtured a vibrant collection of house plants. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling on a league alongside her mother. She dearly adored her nieces: Robin Plumridge, Danielle Gibbs, and Andrea Lambert , her Aunt and Uncle Alice & Steve Wallace.

Above all, Marsha loved her family and friends deeply and took immense pride in her sons.

Marsha is survived by her two sons: Dustin Gooding of Anderson, who lovingly provided home care for his mother; and Derek Skirvin and his wife, Whitney Groce, of Kennard, whom Marsha loved as her own daughter. She is also survived by her stepson, Michael Skirvin.

She leaves behind her loving brother, Hubert Gooding, and his wife, Naomia, of Anderson; sister-in-law, Nan Arroyo, and her husband, David; and brother-in-law, Mike Skirvin, and his wife, Karen. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends, all of whom she cherished.

Marsha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David E. Skirvin; her mother, Neoma Mae Gooding (Clem); her father, Hubert Gooding; and her brother, Mike Gooding.

Her passing was swift and unexpected. Marsha was surrounded by her sons and daughter-in-law as she passed, they will forever hold her in their hearts.

In accordance with her wishes, Marsha will be cremated. The family will hold a memorial gathering to celebrate her life on May 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 East State Street, Pendleton, Indiana 46064.
