Pendleton

PENDLETON — Marion F. Lewis, 91, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025. He was born on October 28, 1934, in Fork Mountain, Tennessee, to the late John D. and Mable (Winningham) Lewis and was a longtime resident of Pendleton.

Marion proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps veteran, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism. Following his military service, he built a dedicated career with Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson, where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 1987.

A man of many talents and simple pleasures, Marion enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He found great satisfaction in working with his hands and spending time outdoors, often sharing these interests with family and friends. Known for his steady presence, quiet strength, and kind heart, Marion was deeply devoted to his family and took great pride in the life he built.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dallas Lewis; and his sister, Bernice Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Alberta (Raisor) Lewis; his children, Donna M. Gibbons, David W. Lewis, Angie (Ken) Clark, and Dean Humphrey. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his biological family, Marion’s legacy extended well beyond borders. His family welcomed 12 exchange students from around the world, whom he embraced as grandchildren. These relationships reflected Marion’s generous spirit, and belief that family is built through love.
