Loretta Ingram

With joy and gratitude in our hearts, we celebrate the life of Loretta Ingram, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2026, at Sweet Galilee at the Wigwam assisted living in Anderson, Indiana. Born on June 13, 1958, in Chicago, IL, Loretta was someone who loved Jesus Christ, cherished her faith, family, and friends.

Loretta dedicated much of her life to helping others as a critical care technician. Her warm heart and caring nature touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues alike. Although she faced health challenges, her unwavering faith, optimism, beautiful voice, listening ear, sturdy shoulder, and infectious sense of humor shone brightly, inspiring all who knew her. She loved Jesus foremost and deeply and eagerly anticipated her homecoming with Him. She knew she'd join The Kingdom and could not wait to be with The Most High. She suffered many ailments and weathered many storms yet always knew peace.

Loretta found great joy in cooking and sharing meals with those she loved. Her love for her sons, Mark Anthony Ashby II (significant other, Kelsey Huston), Lorene (Lorn) David Ashby and her grandson Mark Anthony Ashby III, as well as her family was sincere and immeasurable. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Gwendolyn Johnson, sister Theressa Steward, her cherished nieces, Gwendolyn Steward and Edwina Steward as well as Edwina's children, and her stepchildren Erica Ashby and her sister Cynthia Grisset as well as their children Orion, Oneal, Nadia, and Kerry Jr. Loretta's Friendships were extremely important to her, including her friendship with the father of her children and dear friend, Mark Anthony Ashby, as well as a vast array of beloved cousins and friends. Loretta was preceded in death by her father, David E. Johnson

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. A funeral service celebrating Loretta's life will follow visitation immediately starting at 3:00pm.
