Lindy G. Slack, 88, of Anderson, Indiana, who left us peacefully at his home on February 7, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on October 23, 1937, in Sumner County, Tennessee, Lindy was the cherished son of Donald Slack and Pauline (Knight) VanDolsen.
Lindy was a devoted husband to his late wife, Rose (Thomas) Slack, with whom he built a remarkable life filled with love and shared dreams. A talented general contractor, Lindy operated his own business, Lindy Slack Homes, INC., and ran Slack and Sons until passing the torch to family members. A man who had an innate talent for building and creating, Lindy cherished the outdoors and found joy in riding his tractor.
He was known for his warm mornings at McDonald's, where he gathered with friends over breakfast to share stories and laughter. Most notably, Lindy held an unwavering faith that guided him throughout his life. He served faithfully for many years at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, a place he viewed as his spiritual home.
Lindy is survived by his children, Lisa (Craig) Miller, Debbie Moody, and Christopher Michael Gross; Siblings, James (Sheila) Slack, Paulette (John) Stout, Melissa (Steve) Staggs, and Chris Slack; Grandchildren, Christopher Gross, Jr., Lindsay (Justin) Wood, Steven Robinson, David Kendall, Daniel Duncan, and Hunter Austin. Lindy is also survived by many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, spouse, Rose Slack, and two sisters, Joyce Hopper and Gloria Wilson.
Visitation for family and friends will take place from 11am - 1pm on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. A funeral service will follow visitation starting at 1:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Clifton Smith officiating. Burial will conclude services at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton.
