Linda Elaine McCord

Linda Elaine McCord, 88, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. Born on February 23, 1938, in Muncie, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of Oliver and Alice (Spilker) Walters. Linda will be remembered as a loving wife to her late husband, Allen Lee McCord, and a devoted mother to her children.

A 1956 graduate of Pendleton High School, Linda dedicated many years of her life working at Owens-Brockway. She was an active member of Madison Park Church of God and found joy in reading during her spare time. Linda's warmth and kindness touched everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimela (Jerry) Shaw; her siblings, Nancy Jones and Kathy Jones, as well as her grandchildren, Matthew (Alacia) Hurt, Kenderic Herring, and Kendon Herring, and seven great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, step-mother Vivian (Romine) Walters, a daughter, Dawn Herring, and her siblings, Kathryn Morrison, Dan Walters, David Brown, and Rachel Stefanini.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 12 PM at Grove Lawn Cemetery, 537 N Pendleton Ave, Pendleton, IN 46064. Friends and family are welcome to join in honoring Linda's memory.
