Linda Lou Hormell, 87, of Lapel, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born on January 18, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana to C. Vernon and Katherine Alice (Duncan) Fisher. She was a 1956 graduate of Lapel High School. She worked in the finance department at Fort Benjamin Harrison. She had also worked at the Lapel Library and was a bus driver for Frankton-Lapel School Corporation and was an EMT.
She was a long-time member of Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel where she also played the organ. She was a member of the Lapel Lions Club. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She coached the original Lapel Softball League. She enjoyed crafting and creating stained glass art. She especially loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Linda is survived by three sons, James Edward (wife, Penny) Hormell of Lapel, Michael Wayne (wife, Denise) Hormell of Paoli and David William Hormell of Lapel; a brother, Robert (wife, Lynn) Fisher of Anderson; a sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Reddick; ten grandchildren, Tommy Hormell, Joey Hormell, Lindsey Hormell, Simanney Wilkins, Katie (husband, Brandon) Hutchison, Sara Day, Jamie (husband, Colin) Loughman, Marissa Graham, Bryan Rodriguez and Jaydon Rodriguez; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years whom she married September 14, 1957, William "Bill" Thomas Hormell on February 2, 2022; her parents; a brother-in-law, Steve Reddick; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Mary Lou Cecil.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Aaron Taylor officiating. Cremation will take place. Burial of ashes will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel at a later date.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
