Kermit Stacy, 94, formerly of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis. Born on October 8, 1931, in Muses Mills, KY, to Fred Stacy and Cordia (McRoberts) Ratliff. Kermit lived a rich life filled with love, laughter, and sports.

 He was married to the late Martha (Wicker) Stacy, and together they created wonderful memories. Kermit served his country with pride in the United States Army as a corporal, stationed in Germany. A true athlete at heart, he played football and basketball during his time in the service. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast who cherished watching his grandchildren play, enjoyed bowling in his younger days, had a deep passion for golfing, and was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, always enjoying watching them play.

Kermit was not just about sports; he found joy in playing cards, working on puzzles, and reading western novels. He was a proud member of the American Legion for 60 years, receiving commendations such as the Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, and he even attended engineer school while in Germany.

He is survived by his children, Jean (Jim) Mumbower, Donald (Cindy) Watson, Venus Jean (Bill) Coppernoll; Daughter-in-law, Diana Stacy; Siblings, Becky Lundstrom, Billy Ray Ratliff, Charlie (Sandy) Ratliff, Linda Cullison, and Marlene (Gary) Wampler. Kermit is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty nine great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Kermit is preceded in death by his parents; His wife, Martha; Children, Sondra Stacy, Darrin Stacy, Douglas Stacy; Brother, Fred Stacy; Sisters, Wilma Gosser, Elsie Dewees, and Betty Stacy; Brothers-in-law, Bob Cullison and Jim Lundstrom; Sister-in-law, Debbie Ratliff; and one grandson, Derrick Stacy.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013.

A funeral service celebrating Kermit's life will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the funeral home starting at 11:00 am with Rev. Samuel Jackson officiating. Burial will conclude services at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites being performed by the United States Army assisted by the Daleville American Legion.
