Karen S. Lawson, 77, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
She was born on January 14, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana, and was a graduate of Madison Heights High School. A devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to caring for her family. Karen was a longtime member of the Anderson Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was actively involved in Vacation Bible School and served as its director for several years. She also faithfully worked as the church janitor for many years. She enjoyed scrapbooking and cherished spending time with her family, playing a vital role in helping raise her grandchildren. She had a special bond with her beloved dog, Piper, who brought her great joy.
Karen is survived by her seven children, Bryan (wife, Tracy) Lawson of Spencer, Robert (wife, Anna) Lawson of Hope, Lorrie (husband, Mike) Huffman of Bloomington, Brad (wife, Momi) Lawson of Arizona, Jeffery (wife, Shelly) Lawson of Anderson, Jennifer Welch of Anderson and Susan (husband, Todd) Bozell of Lapel; her mother, Marilyn Gardner Huston of Anderson; twelve grandchildren, Samantha Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Hayden Lawson, Maria Lawson, Alison Ballman, Joshua Grubb, Lika Lawson, Ryan Lawson, Madison Lawson, Brandon Welch, Noah Bozell and Luke Bozell. Karen is also survived by many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Karen was also survived by her good friend, Roberta Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lee Lawson on October 6, 2023; her father Loren E. Huston; a brother, Phillip Wayne Huston; a sister, Elondalou Campbell; and a son-in-law, James Howard Welch III.
Visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013.
A funeral celebration of life service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Mike Huffman officiating. Burial will conclude services at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory has been entrusted to serve the Lawson family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Lawson Scholarship Fund for Radiology Technology Students, c/o Community Hospital Foundation, 1515 North Madison Avenue, Anderson, Indiana 46011.
