Juanita (Clark) Blakeney, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother known for her kindness and strong spirit, she passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Anderson, Indiana.
Born on December 23, 1926, to Kelsa and Elsie (Starr) Clark, Juanita’s early life was rooted in Lawrence County, Indiana, where she was lovingly raised by her maternal grandparents, Calvin and Nannie Starr. She graduated from Heltonville High School in 1944.
In 1945, Juanita married Harold Blakeney. The couple settled in Pendleton, where Juanita lived for 55 cherished years before moving to Anderson in 2011. A dedicated employee, Juanita spent 33 years working for the Kroger Company before retiring in 1989.
Outside of her professional life, Juanita’s hands were rarely still. She was an accomplished seamstress. She was also a wonderful cook, whose kitchen was always warm and inviting. An avid reader and enthusiastic traveler, Juanita embraced exploration and lifelong learning, but her greatest joy was simply spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harold Blakeney (1981); her parents and grandparents; her stepmother, Mabel Clark; her siblings, Oweetah Ridenour and Shelby Clark; and her brother-in-law, Charles Adamson.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Marsan Yeskie; her three grandchildren, Brant (Shannon) Yeskie, Eric (Casie) Yeskie, and Jennifer Yeskie; and her five great-grandchildren, Abram, Keegan, Devin, Hannah, and Lily Yeskie, who brought her so much joy in her later years. She is also survived by her siblings, Wynema (Leonard) Bailey, Delema Adamson, Sharon Deily, and Sherrill Clark, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Juanita’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Bethany Pointe Health Campus for their compassionate and excellent care.
