Joseph H. Abel

Joseph “Joe” Abel, 85, of Anderson, passed away November 20, 2019 at Countryside Manor following a brief illness. Joe was born June 3, 1934, in Anderson, a son of the late Lawrence and Margaret Abel. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retiree of Delco-Remy. Joe and his wife Delores were able to spend several years living in Florida before moving back to Anderson. He was a kind, thoughtful husband and father who enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Delores Abel; a son and daughter, Dan Eytchison and Pamela Abel; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great- great-grandchildren; brothers, Michael (Joyce) Abel and Ed (Patty) Abel; and a brother-in-law, Don (Ruby) Wyatt. Joe was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Abel; daughter-in-law, Connie Eytchison; brother, Larry Abel; and a sister, Mary Ann Abel. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Father Mark Walter officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
