Jose Amaya, 85, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 24, 1940, in San Alejo, La Unión, El Salvador, to Celestino Amaya and Felipa Núñez.
Jose was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Transito Parada Amaya, and together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and hard work. He and his wife were devoted members of Iglesia de Dios Emmanuel in Anderson. Jose dedicated many years of his life to working as a textile salesman, a career he truly enjoyed, as he had a natural gift for business and connecting with others.
He found great joy in gardening, especially growing fruits and vegetables, and was well known for his delicious watermelons each summer. Jose had a warm, contagious smile, took great pride in his signature mustache, and will be remembered as a hardworking man who deeply loved and cared for his family-especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
Jose is survived by his loving wife, Transito Amaya; his son, Nino Parada; his brother, Pedro Amaya; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Maria Parada; his son, Luis Alonso Parada; and his grandson, Edwin Flores.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m.
An additional visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, Virginia 22315. A funeral service will take place the following day, Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
