John W. Simmermon

John W. Simmermon, 70, of Lapel, passed away August 22, 2026, at at his home following an extended illness. He was born May 17, 1956 in Anderson, Indiana to WIlliam M. and Betty L. (Huston) Simmermon. He was a 1974 graduate of Lapel High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in agriculture economics from Purdue University in 1978.

He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and the Purdue Student Union Board. He was a member of the Madison County Planning Commission. He was chairman of the Madison County Board of Zoning Appeals. He was also a member of the Anderson Country Club.

John was a member of iTown Church in Fishers. He was passionate about his faith, family, grandchildren and farming. His favorite hobby was trading commodities.

John is survived by his wife whom he married in 1980, Marcia (Lake) Simmermon; two children, Brad Simmermon, his wife Caitlin and their children, Taylor and Jackson and Jill Simmermon Hays, her husband, Cody and their children, Graham, Reid and Wade; two sisters, Teresa Monical of West Lafayette and Amy VanBuskirk of Columbus, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per John's request, there will be a private family service with private burial to follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
