Joe F. Philbert, 89, of Shoals, Indiana, passed away on June 30, 2026. Joe was born on May 24, 1937 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Charles and Roxie (Parton) Philbert, Sr. Following his graduation from high school, Joe faithfully served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Upon returning to civilian life, Joe began a dedicated career with Guide Lamp, working as a skilled Tool and Die maker. He remained a valued employee there until his retirement in 1996.

On November 15, 1986, Joe married Wyveda (Moore) Philbert. Together, they shared a beautiful life and were married for almost 40 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Joe loved hunting and spending time in nature, especially on his beloved property in Southern Indiana. He and Wyveda were true snowbirds, enjoying their winters in Florida where Joe loved to play bocce and frequently served as the court referee. Joe's childhood passion for sailboats turned into a lifelong dream to navigate America's great waterways. He proudly fulfilled that dream alongside his wife, completing the famous continuous seasonal waterway known as the "the Great Loop."

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Wyveda; his sister, Mary (Greg) Reed; his children, Dawn (Mark Cole) Mahoney, Jeff (Hyang Och) Philbert, and Mark (Heather) Philbert; and his step-children, Corinna Basore, Chris Moore, and Mike Moore. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Taylor Lamberty, Brian (Mackenzie) Philbert, Brooke Philbert, Kayla Philbert, Seth Philbert, Jon (Melissa) Philbert, Tyler Mahoney, Dustin Mahoney, Logan Mahoney, Adrianna (Grant) Bennett, Nick Philbert, Hannah Philbert, Jenna Basore, Brandon Basore, Jada Basore, Hailey Basore, Sam Basore and Lucy Moore; as well as numerous adored great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Roxie Philbert, Sr.; his children, Julie Bubert and Rodney Philbert; his sister, Ann Fisher-Schuster; and his brother, Charles Philbert, Jr.
