Jerry Jay "Jake" Johnson Sr.

Jerry Jay "Jake" Johnson Sr, 89, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness. 

He was born on May 24, 1937, in Huntertown, Indiana to Archie C. and Rose (Pion) Johnson. He was a 1955 graduate of South Side High School in Fort Wayne. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. 

He retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson where he was a designer. He worked there from 1964-1999. 

He was a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel. Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra "Sandy" (Hanna) Johnson; three sons, Jerry Jay (wife Sheri) Johnson Jr. of Seymour, Timothy L. "Tim" (wife, Dayna) Johnson of McCordsville and Gregory R. (wife, Sharissa) Johnson of Anderson; six grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Callie, Emily, Emma and Emilia; two great-grandchildren, Claire and Graham; a brother, Archie (wife, Shirley) Johnson of Fort Wayne; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Janette, Janice, Jack and Johnny.

Jake's wishes were to be cremated. Private family services will be held at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.
