Jerry Lee Bowman, son of John and Susie (Beckner) Bowman, was born April 20, 1939, in Franklin County, Virginia. Daddy answered his Savior's call and was baptized on August 9, 1957, becoming a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church at Oak Hill, Virginia, to which he remained faithful. He passed away on September 5, 2026, at home surrounded by his family, at the age of 87.
He was married to Loretta Ann Oyler of Beech Grove, Indiana in 1966. They started their married life in the Oak Hill district before moving to Beech Grove in 1966. They were blessed with four children.
Daddy was a farmer at heart all his life. In 1973, he started Madison County Cabinets with his brother-in-law, Richard Oyler. He wasn't known for idleness, keeping himself busy, even in his retirement years. We appreciate his faithful example and desire to serve others.
He is survived by his loving companion, Loretta; four children, two daughters and sons-in-law and two sons and daughters-in-law, Wanda and Harry Bowman, Russell and Stephanie Bowman, Daniel and LeAnn Bowman and Marla and Larry Boone; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harvey and Betty Bowman, Howard and Mildred Bowman and Beverly and John Flora; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Lloyd and Mildred Oyler; stepmother-in-law, Harriett Oyler; sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Leonard Wary; two infant siblings; and a brother-in-law, Richard Oyler.
We wish to express a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers from Heart to Heart Hospice, Senior Helpers, and others for their kind and compassionate care.
