Janice E. Geiger, 86, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Bethany Pointe Legacy Health Campus in Anderson following an extended illness.
She was born on December 16, 1939, at home in Saint Elmo, Illinois to James William Sr. and Jennie Elizabeth (Evans) Fulks. She was a graduate of Saint Elmo High School and went on to earn her nursing degree as an RN.
She began her career at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. She continued her career at Community Hospital in Anderson as an OB nurse until her retirement. Her nursing career spanned 41 years.
She attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel. She was a member of TOPS. She loved to help people and was always on the go. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Janice is survived by her children, Elizabeth Annette (Chuck) Gallagher and Ivan Wayne (Stephanie) Geiger; ten grandchildren, Ethan (Rhe) Gallagher, Emma (Austin) Creamer, Evan (Kaylee) Gallagher, Jordan (James) Geiger, Alec (Alexis) Geiger, Lewis Geiger, Adam Geiger, Diana Geiger, Gabrial Geiger and William Geiger; three great-grandchildren, Kinslee Mae, Beau Evric and Evie Wren; two sisters, Wanda Young and Ruby Shipley; a daughter-in-law, Martha Geiger; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband whom she married October 30, 1965, Ivan Gene Geiger; her son, Darrin Gene Geiger; a great-grandchild, Wrenley Mae Gallagher; her parents; and three siblings, Norman Wayne Fulks, Ruth A. Jones and James William Fulks Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 217 East 7th Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Scott Hersberger officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. A nursing honor guard service will be conducted by the Madison County Nurse's Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.
