James "Jim" Rushton

June 5, 1944 — April 11, 2026

Hendersonville, TN

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Everett Rushton, who left us on April 11, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on June 5, 1944, to Oakley Everett Rushton and Blanche (Biddle) Rushton, Jim lived a life full of adventure, love, and family, and we celebrate that he is now home, whole, and scouting out the best fishing holes.

Jim dedicated many years to General Motors and Magna Quench but his true passion was the outdoors. He loved nothing more than spending time hunting, fishing, or running his beagles especially with his family and friends. A bit of a character, he even dabbled as a gun dealer, a testament to his fondness for the great outdoors and the camaraderie it brought.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Deborah (Huffman) Rushton of Fairhope, Alabama to whom he was married for over 50 years, their three children, Michelle "Micki" (Rushton) Jennings (husband, Jonathan) of Fairhope, Alabama, Danita (Rushton) Jones (husband, Jeffrey) of Daleville, Indiana, and James "Jay" Rushton Jr. (Elizabeth Stinson) of Huntingdon, Tennessee. He was a proud grandfather to Jacob Delph (wife, Kylie) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Alyse Delph of Fairhope, Alabama, Seth Jones, Justin Jones, Alyssa Jones all of Daleville, Indiana, and Logan Rushton of Clarksville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Raylan, Easton, Dakota and Wrenly. Jim will be greatly missed by his best friend and brother-in-law, Steve Delph, and a host of other friends and family who were fortunate enough to know him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Mae Miller (husband, Lindell "Pert").

They will be having a private service and visitation for the family. Services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes & Crematory-Condo Chapel.

Rest in peace, Jim. You've left your mark on many, and you will be missed more than words can express.
