Frankton, IN

James "Jim" Paul Fort, 61, of Frankton, passed away on November 1, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on August 27, 1965 in Hartford City, Indiana to the late John Wayne and Julia Ruthann (Hoffman) Fort. Jim graduated from Mississinewa High School, class of 1983 and then enlisted in the United States Navy as a Deep Sea Diver, where he faithfully served our country. Jim was honorably discharged in 1985 and earned a Bronze Star for his bravery and service. After the military, he began working at Happy & Son Garage where he was a mechanic for many years before working for AT&T as an installation and repair technician.

Jim married his loving wife, Carol (Hoskins) Fort, and the two were married for 14 years. Jim loved the ocean, scuba diving, and surfing. He enjoyed traveling and could always be found by the sea, soaking in the sun, sand, and the water. Never one to turn down an adventure, he could be found mountain climbing, racing, and skateboarding. When Jim wasn't off on an adventure, he could be found volunteering at his local Veteran's Hospital as an Escort. Jim was very proud of his time volunteering and helping families find their way to appointments. He lived life to the fullest while maintaining a big smile and a warm heart.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Carol; his daughters, Megan Fort and Madison Fort; his step-sons, Jacob (Aimee) Knight and Caleb Knight; his grandson, Gabriel Knight; his brother, Joe Fort; his sister, Jacinda Wright; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded with burial at Marion National Cemetery.
