James Darrell Chinn

James “Jim” Darrell Chinn, 83, of Anderson, passed away on November 9, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 26, 1941 in Hartford, KY to the late Delmas and Odessa (Goff) Chinn. After graduating from Noblesville High School in 1959, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy and faithfully served our country until his discharge in 1963. He then re-enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1970. Jim married the love of his life, Deanna Haskins, and the two were married for 54 years. Jim worked for General Motors for close to 35 years before his retirement. Jim was a past member of the Sons of Confederate Soldiers and loved all things Civil War. He toured many Civil War battlegrounds and joined a Civil War Roundtable. He collected coins and books about the Civil War. Jim also loved Westerns and Bluegrass music. He was a faithful Christian and was a part of Missionary trips for at least 20 years.

James will be dearly missed by his wife, Deanna; children Laura, Carla, and Duncan; grandchildren, Savannah (Alex), Nathan, Duncan, and Austin; great-granddaughter, Emma; sister, Rita (Ronnie); sister-in-law, Carolyn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mac and Joe.

The visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Bozell Funeral Homes- Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel. The funeral ceremony will begin at 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jim's services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes.
