It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack L. Ashby, of Carmel, Indiana, who departed this life on January 31, 2026 at the age of 85. He was born on June 21, 1940 in Anderson to the late Kenneth Ashby and June (Wallace) Porter.
Jack graduated from Indiana University in 1964 with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. Following his graduation, he opened his own CPA firm in Anderson, IN, where he practiced for many years. His career as a Certified Public Accountant was not only his profession but his true passion.
Before embarking on his academic pursuits, Jack worked as an autobody mechanic, demonstrating his affinity for cars-a love that extended to classic Duesenbergs. Jack's appreciation for automobiles was matched only by his enjoyment of life's simple pleasures. He relished time spent in Naples, Florida, where he often watched golfers play from his back porch.
He found joy in taking long walks, maintaining his pool, and spending time with his beloved dog, Max.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Elizabeth "Libby" (Jeff) Paulshock, Christopher "Chris" (Shelby) Ashby, Michael (Eunyoung) Ashby, and Amy (Tim) Thompson; grandchildren, Joshua (Stephanie) Knaus, Joel Young, Sam Coon, Connor (Emily) Ashby, Jack-Ryan (Lauren) Ashby, Oliver Ashby, Dalma Ashby, Sejon Ashby, Mallory (Nick) Habig and Nick Shinneman; several great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Candace "Candy" Ashby; and brother, James "Jim" Ashby.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory-Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State Street, Pendleton, IN 46064. A visitation will take place prior from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jack's name to the Madison County SPCA Humane. Jack services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory.
