Henry Bowers Jr., 93, of Lapel, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on January 16, 1931, in Gastonville, Pennsylvania to Henry Bowers Sr. and Clara (Sneltzer) Bowers.
He was a graduate of Ringgold High School in Monangahela, Pennsylvania. He went on to earn his associate's degree. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the signal corp during the Korean War.
He retired in 1981 from US Steel as a draftsman and carpenter. He loved construction and building things. He renovated many homes, including the ones he and Anna lived in.
Henry is survived by his wife, Anna (Zadik) Bowers; a daughter, Judy Benway of Noblesville; a sister, Gladys Luznar of Corry, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Joel Benway, Leah Short, Michael Benway, Aaron Carpenter, Elizabeth Fisher and Nathan Benway; two great-grandchildren, Gibson and Brier; and a son-in-law, Herb Carpenter of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patty Carpenter; four brothers; and one sister.
Per Henry's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation will take place.
