Helen L. (née Smear) Parks Jackson, 95, of Anderson passed away at her daughters home on October 4, 2026 surrounded by her family. Helen was born on December 12, 1930 in Anderson to the late Scott and and Kathryn (Hodson) Smear. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1948, she attended Ball State University before starting one of the toughest jobs of all, being a homemaker. Alongside being a homemaker, she worked as a realtor for over 20 years. She married her loving husband, Lee Jackson, and the two were married for a number of years until his passing in 2007.
Helen found her spiritual home at Bethany Christian Church and had been a faithful member for many years. She enjoyed bowling and ball room dancing. She was the past secretary of Rangeline Community Center and a past member of the Elks. Helen enjoyed socializing, especially going out to eat with her friends and family. A member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Helen enjoyed spending time with her many friends there.
Left to cherish her members is her daughter, Debra (Richard) Hiles; grandchildren, Jesse (Bonna Nichol) Looper, Melissa (Ron) Weaver, Jamie (Paul) Halstead, and Jessica Hiles; great-grandchildren, Grant Looper, Emily Looper, Lillianna Porter, Rylan (Savannah) Halstead, Jaylen (Grace) Halstead, Eathan Halstead, Addison (Isaiah) Emberts, Brooklyn Halstead, Lincoln Halstead, Greyson Halstead, Jaxton Hiles, Destiny (Noah) Porter, Elayna Weaver, and Colton Weaver; and great-great-grandchildren, Devon, Maxton, and Merrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Douglas Parks and Timothy Parks; grandson, Richie Hiles; great-grandson, Rayghn Hiles; and sister, Betty (Glen) Powers.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Chris Bell will be officiating. Helen's services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel.
