Gloria Jean "Jeanie" Carpenter, 76, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a hard fought illness. Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, she was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose life was defined by kindness, dedication, and care for others.
She is survived by her loving sister, Patty Williams; daughters, Kristy Miller and Melissa (Dave) Zdanowski; cherished granddaughters, Jessica (Jordan) Starkey, Jenna Hadley, and Ava Zdanowski; adored great-grandson, Forest Starkey; and several nieces and nephews including: Angie Carpenter, Bryant Wire, Lisa Williams, Doyle Williams and Dustin Niccum. Gloria also leaves behind many dear friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lida Carpenter; brother, Dennis Carpenter; and her beloved pets, Daxter and Roxie.
Gloria spent many years working at General Motors where she was known for her work ethic and friendly spirit. Outside of work, she found great joy in gardening, baking, and playing games with her family. She was also a regular presence at her grandchildren's events and milestones-always cheering them on with pride. Her true calling, however, was caring for others. Whether lending a hand or offering a listening ear, Gloria was the kind of person who made others feel seen, heard, and loved.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and her family who she cherished deeply.
A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Gloria's memory to plant something beautiful or lend a hand to someone in need-just as she so often did.
Gloria's services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes-Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.bozellfuneralhomes.com.
