George D. Franklin, 92, formally of Anderson, passed away Nov. 23, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield.
George was born, Dec. 4th, 1922, in Spencer, Indiana, the son of the late George and Leafie (Thacker) Franklin and was an Army Veteran of WWII.
George retired from Container Corporation and then moved to Silver Lake to enjoy fishing full time. He and his wife Edie were members of the Akron Church of God and managed the Senior Center in Silver Lake for over 17 years.
He is survived by his wife, Edith “Edie” Harper-Franklin of Silver Lake; his children, Harry (DyAnne) Franklin of Davison Mich., Joyce (David) Pike, Mike (Susie) Franklin all of Anderson; step-children, Jeannine Harper and Daniel Harper both of Rochester; grandchildren, Barbra (Brent) Simpson, Steve Franklin, Valarie Franklin, Douglas Mitchell, Bethany Mitchell, Darren Mitchell, Derek (Kendra) Pike, Kortney (Jason) Zagorski, Kelly (Chris) Balich, Alissa (Grant) Miller, Aaron Franklin; 12 great grandchildren; brothers and sister, Mervin Franklin, Shirley Herndon and Morris Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Franklin; daughter, Rosalie Mitchell; brother and sisters, Rhoda Huber, Lorene Keep, James Franklin and Peggy Snapp.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Services immediately following at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Art Jaggard officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park with military honors by VFW Post 266.
