Frances Jervis, age 85, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Community Hospital in Anderson, following a sudden illness. Born on December 23, 1940, in Burkesville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Charlie and Delsie (Garrett) Melton.
A 1958 graduate of Daleville High School, Frances was well known during her school years as a cheerleader and prom queen. On October 18, 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard Jervis, at Mounds Baptist Church, beginning a marriage filled with love and companionship that endured for 65 years until his passing.
Frances dedicated much of her life to her family, caring for them at home while also taking on the role of office manager at RD Motor Express for several years. Earlier in life, she served for many years as secretary at First Baptist Church of Daleville, where she was actively involved in Vacation Bible School and many other church activities. She later attended Chesterfield Christian Church.
Frances possessed an incredible work ethic and a servant's heart. She was spunky, competitive during family games, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Always a jokester, Frances never hesitated to speak her mind, and everyone always knew exactly where she stood. She loved to dance, including square dancing. She also enjoyed attending sporting events alongside Richard.
More than anything, Frances loved her family fiercely, especially her grandchildren. Some of their favorite memories include playing croquet outside, playing Aggravation and the card game, Rook. A true night owl, Frances often preferred to tackle her household chores late into the evening.
Her love extended beyond her family to animals, which held a special place in her heart. She also loved spending time at the beach searching for seashells along the shore. Frances had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Robyn (D.R.) Miller and Rhonda (Scott) Francis, along with her grandchildren, Jacob Francis, Alexandra (Marcus) Martín and Ashley (Braden) Hawhee; and her great-granddaughter, Amiya Franklin.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Richard Jervis; her brothers, Robert and Bill Melton; and her granddaughter, Michaela Miller.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013.
