Donald Paul Wampler

Donald Paul Wampler, 92, a resident of Bridgewater, Virginia, formerly of Lapel, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, August 28, 2026, after passing at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

Mr. Wampler was born on December 29, 1933, in Chicago, IL, and was a son of the late David Benjamin and Elizabeth "Betty" Karicofe Wampler.

Donald retired in 1999 from Best Lock in Indiana. He was an active member at his church, West Cross Street Alliance Church in Indiana. He shared his musical talents on the organ and marimbas. After moving to Virginia, he attended Garbers Church of the Brethren and Bridgewater Church of the Brethren.

Donald was reunited with his love, Betty Baker Wampler, whom he shared 50 years of marriage before her passing on March 6, 2010. Donald loved spending time with his family. Donald was loved by all who met him, and his love for Christ was evident.

Surviving are his siblings: Dale Wampler, Wilma Crull, Melvin Wampler, James Wampler; son-in-law, Bill Davis; grandchildren, Kathryn Green (husband, John), Brittany Davis, Rex Davis, Dalton Davis, Morgan Davis; and great-grandchildren, Noah Green, Lillian Green, Finleigh Green, Everleigh Moore, and Rachel Moore.

In addition to his parents and wife, Donald was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Zipp.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.

A funeral service will follow visitation starting at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will conclude services at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
