DIane Tudor

Diane Tudor carried her big heart everywhere she went, sharing it freely with family, friends, and every stranger she met—until, over the course of her 85 years, she had given so much of it away that it had nothing left to give.

In the late evening of April 6th, after a long battle with health ailments, Diane fell asleep peacefully, and her heart took one final beat before coming to a well-deserved rest.

Diane was born in Virginia to her parents, Norman and Mary Cormell. She and her sister, Marcia Woods, were raised in Southern California, where they were inseparable, spending their days squeezing all the fun they could out of life.

Once married, Diane made her way to Texas in the late 1970s with her three young children, where she built a life rooted in community and lasting friendships.

At Martins Mill School, she became a familiar and beloved presence, running the concession stand at basketball games and later working as a library aide, where she quietly touched the lives of countless students and families. Diane had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, whether through a simple conversation or a lifelong friendship.

Her life was not without its challenges. Diane often said she related to Scarlett from Gone with the Wind - not for the drama, but for the resilience. Her path was filled with twists, turns, and hard-earned lessons, but she met each chapter with determination, ultimately choosing to live life on her own terms.

Nothing meant more to Diane than her family, especially her grandchildren. In Texas, she formed close bonds with Brooke Longino, Nikki McChesney, Steven Spencer and Taylor Loggins. Later, after moving to Indiana, she became an important part of the lives of Reagan, Ryan, Riley, and Reese Cornwell. She also spent time in Massachusetts, where she grew close with Bailey Tudor Sullivan and Sam Tudor. Wherever she lived, Diane made sure her grandchildren knew they were deeply loved.

She also had a special love for her dogs - Jessie 1 and Jessie 2 among them - but none more than her beloved Cavalier King Charles, Maggie. Diane found joy in life’s simple, personal connections, whether with people or the animals she adored.

Diane is now at peace, free from the health struggles that marked her later years, and she has been reunited with her best friend in life - her sister, Marcia - as well as her husband, Phil, her parents, and many dear friends who preceded her in death.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Michelle Curry, Jeff Tudor, and Lori Cornwell; her sons-in-law, Steve Curry and Paul Cornwell; her daughter-in-law, Vicki Tudor; her brother-in-law, Rod Woods; her nieces and nephews, Keri Wilson, Scott Woods and Chris Woods; and her grandchildren, who meant so much to her.

Diane will also be deeply missed by the many friends whose lives she touched through her kindness, conversation, and unwavering generosity, including Shirley Mobley-Harris, Connie Lewis, Gayle Irby, Anne Meyer, Mitzi Parkey, Kristina Martin, and Liz Charleston.

Her legacy lives on in the relationships she built, the lives she influenced, and the love she gave so freely.

A Celebration of Life will be held in August, where her children and families will gather to eat her favorite foods, tell funny stories, and reflect on the impact she had on so many. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Diane’s memory by showing kindness to everyone you meet, just as she always did.
