Dennis P. Moroney, affectionately known as Denny, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Carmel, Indiana. Born on October 18, 1949, he grew up in Anderson, Indiana, where he was raised by his loving parents, William and Marjorie (Schneider) Moroney. He spent most of his adult life in Albion, Indiana.
Denny graduated from Madison Heights High School, a proud member of the Class of '67. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was later honorably discharged. Following his military service, Denny spent nearly a decade working as a correctional officer, earning respect for his dedication and integrity. Prior to retirement in 2008, Denny worked for a printing company in the Ft. Wayne area.
He is survived by his brother, Jim Moroney and his wife Lorraine; Nephews, Kyle and Casey Moroney; Cousin Dan Dykes and his spouse Karen, along with many other loving cousins-John Dykes Jr. and his spouse, Marian Kimmerling Dykes, Patrick Dykes and his spouse, Kyle, Craig Dykes, and his spouse, Liz, John R. Dykes, III., Carl M. Dykes, Cara Lane, Lindsay Lane, and Addison Dykes. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marjorie, and his cousin, Nancy Lane.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, located at 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. Following the service, Denny will be laid to rest at East Maplewood Cemetery. The exact date and time for the memorial service will be announced later.
