Dennis W. Morin Sr.

Dennis W. Morin Sr., 79, of Lapel, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. 

He was born on December 31, 1946, in Milan, Indiana to William Woodrow and Esther Faye (Little) Morin. He was a 1965 graduate of Lapel High School. Dennis served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. 

Dennis was a warm and loving guy with a big heart. He drew people to himself instantly. He was always keeping people laughing with a joke or a witty comment. He loved his family, friends and his beloved cats fiercely. His deck at Hill Lake was always a gathering place for food, drinks and fun.

He retired from Owens Brockway Glass in Lapel after 33 years of employment as a maintenance journeyman. He was a member of GMP Local Union #207 and was president for 13 years. He was a member and former president of Union Glass Comp. He was president of Indiana Glass State Council and Glass Protective League. He was a member of the Lapel Lions Club and Lapel American Legion Post #212. He was a member of the Lapel Town Council Board for 12 years. 

Dennis is survived by his fiancee of 35 years, Laurie Spegal of Lapel; a son, Dennis W. Morin Jr. of Frankton; two daughters, Angela (husband, Scott) Brownfield of Lapel and Jill Yeary of Lapel; eight grandchildren, Payton (husband, Dustin) Robling, Cody Morin of Frankton, Branson (wife, Tara) Retherford of Elwood, Kayley (Taylor) Retherford of Muncie, Austin Brownfield of Lapel, Ryan (wife, Cailey) Brownfield of Kentucky, Courtney (husband, Sam) Wilson of Michigan and Gabrielle (husband, Cody) Small of McCordsville; ten great-grandchildren, Chase, Raelynn, Kooper, Colton, Magnolia, Haiden, Addy, Kamryn, Korbin and Charles; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judith (husband, Robert) Brantlinger. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Scott Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. 

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the funeral home.
