Dennis Molina, 77, of Lapel, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at his home in Lapel following an extended illness.

He was born on September 11, 1948, in Noblesville, Indiana to Joseph and Ethel (Irons) Molina. He was a member of the last class to attend Walnut Grove High School and the first graduating class at Hamilton Heights High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Dennis earned two silver stars, two bronze stars, and a purple heart.

He worked for the IRS from 1980-1989. He joined the Lapel Police Department in 1979 as a reserve officer and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy class 1990-99, before becoming a patrol officer. He then earned the distinction of police chief for many years.

He was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post #212, Lapel Eagles Aerie #4323 and Fortville VFW Post 6904. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with son, eating Japanese food and eating at Perkins. He loved classic cars and old boats. He enjoyed reminiscing about early times.

Dennis is survived by a son, Robert (wife, Cassie) Molina; a daughter, Jodi (husband, Dan) Mawhorr; four grandchildren, Andrew (fiancee, Sarah) Molina, Sara Molina, William Mawhorr and Malina Mawhorr; four sisters, Donna Holding, Patricia Johnson, Darlene Williamson, Susie McKee; three brothers-in-law, Richard (wife, Sharon) Tolliver, Dave Tolliver and Denny Tolliver; a sister-in-law, Janice King

He was preceded in death by his wife whom he married in 1971, Peggy (Tolliver) Molina; his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Joe King and Doug Tolliver.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051. Cremation will take place.
